4th and 5th Grade Cognitive Gifted Pullout Service

Qualifying students will have a cognitive gifted identification on an approved ability assessment KG - 5th grade. Students who are new to the district will have an opportunity to participate in a whole grade ability test administration in the spring of grade two, three, and four. For ELL students and students who have an IEP or 504 plan, consideration is taken into account with respect to testing instruments used. Decisions can be made as to the most appropriate testing instrument utilized prior to the spring whole grade testing window. Students may also be referred for gifted identification testing in early fall or spring of each school year.

The 4th and 5th grade Cognitive Gifted Pullout Service has a commitment to:

  • Developing and expanding critical thinking and reasoning abilities
  • Utilizing differentiated instructional strategies
  • Increasing cognitive skills
  • Facilitating unique opportunities for learning
  • Supporting social-emotional growth of students as they recognize and appreciate their strengths, needs, and individuality
